For small weddings, most wedding planners prefer beaches that are closer to Waikiki hotels. They recommend the Waikiki Beach, Magic Island or Waialae beaches. They prefer to arrange marriages at beaches near the place where bride and bridegroom are staying, so that they can organize more weddings in a single day. If you decide to choose a beach outside of Waikiki, then you will have to add travel fees to your expenses. But if you have always dreamt of a beautiful beach wedding then read on to find out more. You can always look for a planner who is closer to your preferred venue or may be someone who does not charge travel fees.

Some breath taking options would be:

Windward Oahu: Makapu’u, Waimanalo, Lanikai and Kailua Beach.

The eastern coast of Oahu boasts of the best beaches in the world. The sand and oceans expert, Steven Leatherman rates Kailua and Lanikai as some of the most beautiful beaches of the world. Kailua Beach is an unending saga of white sand. Adjacent to it is the Lanikai beach which has dual offshore islands, the Mokulua Islands also known as the Mokes. Lanikai beach boasts of one of the best views of sunrise on the island, thus making it a hot favorite for wedding ceremonies during sun rise.

Waimanalo is another spectacular white sand beach. The grand Ko’olau Mountains surround it as if to guard it. Makapu’u beach overlooks the Rabbit Island and even has lava rocks to boot. It’s a small beach and could get really crowded when the surf is up and on weekends.

North Shore: Waimea bay, Sunset Beach, Ke Iki and Pounders.

There are some exotic beaches on the northern shore of Oahu, which could be the perfect location for your wedding. Keep in mind that the northern shores can become very crowded during high surf and winters. The water can be quite dangerous at swell. Ke-Iki beach is difficult to locate, but once there you will know that the trouble was worth it. It’s a huge beach interspersed with large lave rocks. It also boasts of tide pool and a magnificent sunset view. Waimea Bay and Sunset Beach have popular surfing spots and are quite crowded during weekends. Pounders, famous for powerful shore breaks and thus named, is a fabulous location for your wedding and is located at Laie.

Waianae Coast: Makua Beach, Pokai and Makaha Beach Parks.

Waianae Beach is the complete antithesis of Waikiki. It is just the place you want to be in if you are looking for an authentic local experience. Be careful with your valuables here as crime rate is high. The beaches here are quite isolated with incredible view.

Before you finish:

You will need a permit for a beach wedding in Oahu. Your wedding coordinator or officiant can arrange this for you. You are not allowed to have wedding arches or chairs on the beach. It is advisable to have large weddings at an ocean front hotel or residence.

There are many different kinds of Hawaii tours available to you when you visit these tropical islands, but not all of them will give you a feel for the real Hawaii. Each island has its own unique flavor: different people, different social scene and different activities. And while you can take Hawaii tours which take you on a whirlwind trip to several islands in a day, you may get greater enjoyment out of taking tours which help you appreciate each island in its own right.

Hawaii Tours Which Help you Discover Oahu

Known as the “Friendly Isle,” Oahu tends to act as the gathering grounds for all the comings and goings of its people. Unless you already have a specific plan for a different island in mind, there’s a good chance you’ll fly into Honolulu. Doing this gives you an excellent opportunity to take Oahu-based Hawaii tours.

From here, you can take an amphibious vehicle termed a DUCK on an underwater adventure, then spend the rest of the day snorkeling the delights of Hanauma Bay. Opt for a boat ride around the entire island, complete with a delectable dinner. Learn about Hawaiian history at the Polynesian Cultural Center. You can even sign up for a shark adventure on the North Shore, where you’ll climb into a cage and be lowered into the midst of a toothy swarm!

Hawaii Tours Which Help you Discover the Big Island

The Big Island of Hawaii is wrought with exciting things to do. You can see active lava flows, climb the tallest mountain on Earth, visit numerous historic, cultural and primitive sites, snorkel into sea caves and lava tubes or try your luck in some of the best fishing waters in the world.

Hawaii Tours Which Help You Discover Maui

There’s a good reason Maui is termed the “Valley Isle.” It is chock full of lush ravines brimming with verdant flora and breath-taking waterfalls pouring into fresh water pools that just beg to be swam in. With approximately 600 curves and 54 one-lane bridges, the road to Hana is an adventure tour in and of itself. Add in the ability to swim at some of Hawaii’s best beaches, ride a bike down a volcano or take a helicopter ride over land nearly inaccessible any other way, and you’ll quickly understand why Maui is a favorite destination for Hawaii tour seekers.

Of course, there are excellent Hawaii tours on Kauai, Lanai and Molokai as well, all of which are absolutely worth your time exploring. No matter which island you pick, use the Hawaii tours you book as the first step to truly understanding the idyllic paradise you’ve found yourself upon!

Diamond Head is Honolulu’s landmark of Hawaii, and probably Hawaii’s most recognizable symbol. It dominates southern Oahu and looms over the beaches of Waikiki.

Diamond Head might be just another extinct volcano, but it’s also the best place to orient see the breathtaking landscape of Oahu’s southern reaches. From the top of Diamond Head all of Honolulu and beyond is laid out for you. The coast, the beaches, the other landmarks, like Pearl Harbor and downtown, the neighborhoods, valleys and ridges. And because it’s so close to Waikiki’s hotels, it’s a very popular hiking activity. The hike up Diamond Head is less than a mile and takes less than two hours.

It’s all part of Diamond Head State Park and it’s easy to get to. Just take TheBus (#58) from Waikiki or drive down Kalakaua Avenue to Monsarrat, by the Honolulu Zoo. This turns into Diamond Head Road. Tell the bus driver you’d like to get off at Diamond Head’s entrance.

Go in through the little tunnel entrance. There’s a parking lot, an info center, rest rooms, and a little kiosk. The trail up brown and dusty Diamond Head starts here.

The hike up to the top of Diamond Head starts with a walk across the floor of the volcano, and then the trail becomes gradually steeper and rocky, which winds its way up to the first lookout and half-way point. This might take about 20-30 minutes, and from here you can see the Windward Coast of Oahu. But the best is yet to come.

After you climb a concrete stairway you’ll come to a 225-foot tunnel that’s cut into the mountainside. It’s a good place to get out of the sun for a few minutes and get ready for the next flight of stairs.

On the other side of the tunnel is another flight of steps, slightly longer than the first, but after that you’re practically there. Actually, the lowest level of the Fire Control Station Diamond Head. Go up the spiral stairs to the top of the station and you can exit to the observation station at the summit of Diamond Head. Straight ahead is the broad blue Pacific, the green slopes of the Koolaus, all of Honolulu and beyond, as well as a bird’s eye view of Waikiki.

Stay, take lots of pictures, have a light snack and some water. Re-apply your sunscreen and revel in the moment. After your hour or so hike up, your 30-45 minutes trip down will be much, much easier. But watch the time: The gates close shut at 6pm.

Diamond Head State Park is open from 6-6 all year. There’s a $1 admission for walk-ins, or $5 per carload. If you want to try and avoid the tour groups, come early in the morning or after one’ish in the afternoon.

Bring comfortable walking shoes, water, sunscreen, a sunhat, a camera and a friend. A flashlight is handy for the tunnels, and you could use a towel to help block the sun, fan yourself, or wipe down your face with some cool water. And binoculars would come in really handy.

Hawaii: the islands of aloha. Every year, thousands upon thousands of tourists visit the archipelago to see the exotic flora and fauna, see the beautiful beaches and various surf spots and to experience the culture of the islands.

Once you land on the island of Oahu, there are various transportation options to get you from point to point as there are a number of Honolulu airport shuttle services that are waiting 24/7 to get you from the airport to whichever hotel you are staying on the island.

The typical airport shuttle in Honolulu will even welcome you with a lei; a popular cultural icon in Hawaii, it literally translates to a garland or a wreath of flowers that is emblematic of the warm Hawaiian welcoming greeting.

Get to experience the famous Waikiki surf with various airport Waikiki express shuttle services just waiting to take you to see the celebrated views of Diamond Head tuff cone. Any Waikiki airport shuttle will promptly take you to whatever surach you like, and with surfboard in tow, you can go straight from surfing the crowds at the airport to surfing the world renowned waves in the many surf spots in the island.

If you are more of the nature appreciating type, there are also various services offering >circle island tour Honolulu as part of its services as it is alsouar with most tourists who visit Hawaii. Because of the isolation of the islands in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and the nature of the volcanic islands, the flora and fauna in Hawaii are unique from anywhere else. Unfortunately, most of the species that can be found in Hawaii are endangered so some areas have been declared as protected sites. There are several areas in Hawaii under the protection of the National Park Service. Two areas are designated as national parks: Haleakala National Park near Kula, Maui, includes Haleakala, the dormant volcano that formed east Maui; and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park in the southeast region of the island of Hawaii, which includes the active volcano Kilauea and its various rift zones.

If you seek to go to any of the other nearby islands, it won’t be a problem because there are also several budget airlines or boats that will ferry you across from island to island. There are many other things of note to see on the other islands: Mauna Kea, Hawaii’s tallest mountain located in the big island of Hawaii is an inactive volcano and is a constant draw for hikers and mountain climbers. Maui, with its surf heritage is also a perennial destination for many surfers and enthusiasts.

Top 5 Unforgettable Vacation Spots in Hawaii

From the first “Aloha!” Hawaii holds a stunning array of unforgettable vacation spots. Travelers who want to get the best of Hawaii will want to give themselves sufficient time to visit some of the 50th State’s most stunning sites.

1. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, The Big Island (Hawaii)

The number-one choice of island visitors is Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island. Home of Kilauea and Mauna Loa volcanoes, the park draws some 3 million visitors each year. Photographers will relish the opportunity to get pictures of ever-erupting Kilauea, the world’s most active volcano. Nature lovers will be stunned by immense Mauna Loa, the world’s largest volcano. The Kilauea Visitor Center offers the latest information on opportunities for camping and hiking, plus road conditions and safety precautions. If sightseeing times limited, take the scenic Crater Rim Drive, an 11-mile road around Mauna Loa’s summit. Whatever you do, be sure to stay clear of “Pele’s hair.” That’s the Hawaiian term for streams of glowing lava, which original Hawaiians thought were the tresses of their fire goddess, Pele, who lives in volcanoes.

2. The Polynesian Cultural Center, Oahu

The Polynesian Cultural Center in La’ie, about an hour’s drive from Honolulu near the North Shore, offers what every visitor wants: a genuine Polynesian luau. In addition to its exotic food and entertainment, the cultural center boasts seven different Polynesian villages to give guests good insights into the life of Hawai’i, Samoa, Fiji, Tahiti, the Marquesas, Tonga and Maori New Zealand (Aotearoa), people.

3. The island of Oahu

Home to fabled Honolulu, Oahu is often the first stop for many visitors. Besides the vibrant cultural mix that is Honolulu, Oahu is home to such legendary attractions as Waikiki Beach, Pearl Harbor and Hanauma Bay, known around the world as a prime snorkeling site. Visitors can interact with marine life at Sea Life Park at Makapu’u Beach, or reflect on World War II history at the Arizona Memorial. For those with a hankering for more contemporary pastimes, Honolulu is known for its shopping, dining and entertainment establishments.

4. The island of Maui

The magical island of Maui draws people to it for all sorts of reasons. Some come in the winter to view humpback whales at play. Artists revel is events such as the Maui Film Festival and the Maui Writers Conference, while party animals head straight for Lahaina with its first-rank stage shows and exquisite restaurants. Athletes will find Maui the perfect spot for windsurfing, kite-boarding or a vigorous round of golf. Adrenaline junkies can jump into a canyon on a zip line, bike down a volcano or pilot a personal sports sub underwater. Those with a mystical bent won’t want to miss Haleakala, well known among holistic healers and followers as the strongest natural energy point in the United States.

5. The NaPali Coast, Kauai

No trip to Hawaii would be complete without a visit to the stunning NaPali Coast on the island of Kauai, the oldest and fourth largest of the main Hawaiian Islands. NaPali’s wild and uninhabited cliffs symbolized the unspoiled natural beauty of Kauai. Besides NaPali, Kauai boasts all kinds of natural wonders, from mountaintop rain forests to coral reefs and uncrowded golden beaches along its 111-mile coastline. Geologists estimate that Kauai emerged from an undersea volcano in the Pacific some five million years ago. Today it has one of the wettest places on earth, Mt. Wai’ale’ale, which gets an average annual rainfall of 460 inches. Don’t bother with an umbrella, though; rain showers are brief, followed by glorious “sun breaks” often accompanied by rainbows.

If you’re dreaming of a holiday filled with warm, sunny weather, gorgeous sandy beaches and stunning scenery, why not head to the US state of Hawaii?

You can visit the beautiful islands of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Maui, and Big Island – and each one has so much to offer its visitors.

What’s more, there is a great range of self catering properties available here, so it’s an ideal destination for a holiday property rental.

There is something for everyone in Hawaii. Not surprisingly, it’s a beach lovers’ paradise. But there are also many places to explore, tourist attractions to see and various sporting activities available here.

Kauai, which is also known as the Garden Island, is a great destination for those keen on outdoor activities, such as hiking, fishing, golfing, wind surfing, horseback riding and scuba diving. But if you’re looking to do something less energetic, you can simply chill out and sunbathe on one of Kauai’s delightful beaches.

The island of Oahu is another great Hawaiian destination. Here you will find Honolulu, the capital of the state of Hawaii. Honolulu itself boasts plenty to see and do, including museums, historic buildings, art galleries, restaurants and bars. While you are there, try to visit Iolani Palace. Also in Honolulu is the Ala Moana Center, the world famous shopping centre which is a must-visit for all those who are looking to enjoy some retail therapy!

While you are staying on Oahu, you should also check out the world famous Waikiki Beach, which is an ideal place to learn how to surf.

Molokai is another delightful Hawaiian island which is well worth a visit. If you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and want to just relax during your holiday, this is the ideal holiday destination. You will find peace and tranquility in Molokai, which is also known as The Friendly Island.

If you are a keen golfer, you should head to the island of Lanai, as it has two championship golf courses! And on Lanai you can see Keahiakawelo (also known as Garden of the Gods), which is an amazing landscape with various shapes and sizes of rocks and boulders.

There’s also the Hawaiian island of Maui. This is a good location to go humpback whale watching. You should be able to see the whales around Maui from mid-December to mid-May each year. You can take a boat trip and, hopefully, will catch a sighting of these incredible creatures during your visit here.

Hawaii’s Big Island, meanwhile, is a great island to explore. Here you can visit Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, which is a popular tourist attraction.

Not surprisingly, Hawaii is a perfect wedding and honeymoon destination. This is a truly beautiful part of the world to get married and to spend an idyllic honeymoon, too.

But whether you’re planning on tying the knot or not, Hawaii makes a superb location for any holiday, whether it’s a family vacation, a sporting trip or a more relaxing break.

These beautiful Hawaiian islands have something to offer everyone. And no matter which island you choose, you are likely to have a fun and relaxing time during your holiday.

Are you in the process of making your Oahu travel plans? If so, you may be looking for that perfect island destination or you may be looking for unique attractions to visit. If so, Lanikai Beach is a must examine.

Did you know that Lanikai beach is rated as one of the best beaches in Hawaii? It is. Not only does it come highly rated and recommended by locals and other tourists, but a number of well-known travel magazines and television programs have rated this beautiful beach a must visit.

Another reason why Lanikai Beach is a must visit is because it is off the beaten path. Although it is increasing in popularity, it is still relatively private and overcrowding typically isn’t a problem, especially on the weekdays. If loud, overcrowded beaches are a turn off of yours, this beach is definitely a must visit.

What makes Lanikai Beach a hidden treasure is that it is located in a residential area. Unfortunately, many tourists make the mistake of believing this means the beach is off limits to them, but it isn’t. Don’t make this mistake, as you will miss out on an amazing opportunity. Although surrounded by residential homes, you can use numerous public access paths to gain access.

As previously stated, Lanikai Beach is surrounded by residential homes. While this does mean no Oahu vacation resorts, it does mean Oahu vacation rentals. If you have yet to make reservations for your overnight accommodations, you may want to examine private Oahu vacation rentals near Lanikai Beach. Booking a reservation gives you easy access to the beach and if you are like most travelers, you won’t want to spend your vacation anywhere else.

If the above mentioned reasons weren’t enough, there are even more reasons why Lanikai Beach is a must visit for those on Oahu vacations. One of those reasons is the pictures that you can take home and show off to friends and family. Lanikai Beach is, literally, picture perfect. The clear water, white sandy beaches, and the twin islands of Mokumanu and Mokulua, which are not far from the shore, make any picture breathtaking. That is one reason why beachside weddings are increasing in popularity in the area.

The beauty of Lanikai Beach is perfect anytime of the year and all day long, but one activity that you must do is make it in time to see the sunrise. It is one of the biggest recommendations made by travelers, just like you. Many state that you will never experience something so amazing or wonderful in your life. If you arrive to watch the sunrise in the week, you may be surprised just how quite and peaceful the beach is. Not having to travel far to watch the sunrise is another benefit to booking a stay at a nearby Oahu vacation rental.

Another reason why Lanikai Beach is considered a must visit attraction is because of the fun activities that you gain access to. Before focusing on these activities, a word of caution is needed. Due to being relatively secluded and off the beaten path, there are no onsite facilities. This means no restrooms and no on-duty lifeguard. This doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy Lanikai Beach, but it means that you need to display caution and use your best judgment.

As for the activities that you can enjoy, a few great beach and water activities include kayaking, snorkeling, swimming, picnicking, and sunbathing. In fact, when kayaking, you are encouraged to visit the above mentioned twin islands. They are beautiful bird sanctuaries. Rental stations for kayaks and snorkeling gear are located not onsite, but nearby.

As it was previously stated, it is important to display caution when entering the waters of Lanikai Beach, due to no lifeguards; however, you may be surprised how inviting the water is. The beach is protected by a coral reef. This helps to reduce the surf and make the water calm most of the time.

So, doesn’t Lanikai Beach sound like a great place to visit? If in the area, stop by and see for yourself, as you will be glad that you did. If you have yet to make reservations for your overnight stays, examine Lanikai Beach vacation rentals. They are well-worth the already affordable rental rates!

Interested in Haunted Hawaii?

On Haunted Honolulu’s Oahu Ghost Tours, guests are taken to some of the most haunted places on O’ahu, if not in all of the islands. The tour takes you close-up and allows you to witness firsthand these very unique places…from the much feared Night Marchers, to the places where sacrifices were made to ancient gods and goddesses of Hawai’i, and to the more modern haunts, like those of old hospitals that housed sick children during World War II. From orbs, to extreme and instant temperature changes, to anomalies that seem to have no source…. Many of these places are history by day, and haunts by night!

I have been on this tour a number of times, and I can tell you first hand that the guides are very experienced – absolute experts at telling the stories of these spooky places. All stories are true, and all sites are real. Historical and ancestral information is used, as well as eye witness accounts. Hawaiian ghost tours are not like the typical ghost tours you may be familiar with on the mainland or in other locations around the world. As Hawaiians have their own way of dealing with the supernatural, you may see and witness several ceremonial events at the places visited. All of these events are important to the Hawaiian and their personal beliefs. Please be respectful of these. Also, some of the sites visited may not have a particular story behind the actual haunt. The location may be just a reputed hotspot where paranormal activity is extremely high and ghosts have made it their home for a reason that cannot be explained.

Oahu Ghost Tours have three different tours available.

The first is a walking tour called Honolulu City Haunts. On this tour, you’ll be visiting several locations in Downtown Honolulu where supernatural events are still happening today. From visiting the former residence of Hawaii’s monarchy, to the location of a terrible modern day murder, close encounters are always possible! This is approximately a one mile walk, so I recommend wearing comfortable shoes.

The second tour called Orbs of Oahu is a driving tour. If ‘chicken skin’ is what you’re looking for, this is the tour for you! On this very intense and spooky tour, you’ll be taken around the southern part of the island as you make dead stops at some of the island’s most haunted locations of all. Many of these sites are modern day haunts, and many were made that way from terrible events of the past. This tour includes a visit to the infamous and very haunted site called Morgan’s Corner, made famous in countless books and tales.

Finally, for those who want to experience ancient Hawaii, from the dwelling places of the Fire goddess, Pele, to sacred places built overnight by Hawaii’s legendary little people, the Mehehune, to ancient petroglyphs, Oahu Ghost Tours® has a day tour called Sacred Spirits. On this 4 to 5 hour tour, you’ll visit some of the most sacred Native Hawaiian spots on Oahu.

Bring a camera (fast speed film recommended), and be prepared for what may lie ahead. I know this will be one of the most exciting tours you’ve ever experienced!

Aloha ~
