As you have seen from the first part of the article, there are a lot of events that happen in Rio de Janeiro every month. The list of events for March is not over as for the second part we will be reviewing a couple more of events that are considered important by City Hall as well as tourists and local inhabitants.

Another major event planned for March is “Getting To Know About The Olympics” which will be held at Riocentro – GL Events Centro de Convenções – Av. Salvador Allende, 6.555 – Pavilhões 1, 2, 3 and 4 – Jacarepaguá, between 09-13 of the month. The main purpose of this event which is at its first edition is to have 15 countries from the Americas continents participating, besides the technical schools from the continent so that it will encourage the competitive culture in developing markets. This national tournament will take place along with the WorldSkills America. This event is going to be major as more than 230,000 people will participate, including participants and visitors. The event is being promoted by Senai and its objective is to encourage competitive culture of students that come from the technical schools to present their own projects and participate in exhibitions, talks as well as courses.

On the 18th of this month at Windsor Barra Hotel – Av. Lúcio Costa, 2.630 – Barra da Tijuca, the Brazil Promotion Road Show Rio de Janeiro will be held. Its main objective is to bring together professionals from novelties as well as a special seminar in which major tendencies in promotional marketing will be presented. From 22 until 26, at Cais do Porto – Av. Rodrigues Alves, s/nº – Pier Mauá – Armazéns 2 a 6 e anexos – Centro the V World Urban Forum Of The Un Urban Settlement Program will be held and it is considered to be the most important congress regarding the city administration growth. The central theme of the WUF5 will be “The Right to Life: Uniting Urban Divison”.

At Riocentro – GL Events Centro de Convenções – Av. Salvador Allende, 6.555 – Pavilhões 1, 2, 3 and 4 – Jacarepaguá, between 23 and 25 of this month, the 22nd Super Rio Expofood is being organized by Escala Eventos. Each and every year for 22nd years, professionals along with business man gather together for a major event which usually covers the following areas: restaurants, franchising, hotel, bakery, convenience stores and supermarkets. This event is considered to be one of the largest in the domain of food.

Last but not least, the Class 1 Power Boat Championship will be held on the 26, 27 and 28 of this month at Marina da Glória – Av. Infante Dom Henrique s/nº – Glória. It is considered to be a traditional show which will gather some of the fastest boats in all Brazil.

All things considered, March is no exception to the rule that Rio de Janeiro has something to offer to both its inhabitants and tourists every month, through the entire year. As you can see, there is more to Rio de Janeiro then just the Carnival; March is a great example for this.

Rio de Janeiro has not become one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the world only because of the annually Carnival. It has gained a huge notoriety thanks to its many beaches, fantastic nightlife and basically because each and every month of the year, there is something going on there, something for both locals and tourists to enjoy, relax and have a good time overall. With this article we will try to briefly review the most important events that will occur in Rio in March 2010.

We shall start with the Erudit Music Day which will be celebrated on 5th March 2010. This date was given by the Rio de Janeiro Town Hall. Next, we have the 7th Arts Salon of the Brazilian Academy of the Environment which will be held throughout the entire month. The event is organized by Academia Brasileira do Meio Ambiente. At the event, artists from all over the country will take part in an exhibition which will contain the following categories: sculpture, sketching and picture. The event will also commemorate the Environment Day and there will be a special program presenting shows and music with singers and the famous symphonic opera. The avenue for this important event will be Forte de Copacabana – Posto Seis – Praça Coronel Eugenio Franco, 1 – Copacabana.

Another major event which will be organized in March, more precisely on the 6th and 7th, will be Oi Vert Jam. In 2010 it will reach its 8th edition and on the first stage, the OI VERT JAM World Circuit will take place surrounded by one of the most beautiful views of the city of Rio de Janeiro, with the most professional athletes in the world. Representatives from the following countries will participate: United States of America, England, Finland, Canada, Austria and France, all of them will compete for the world title of the 2010 season in Rio de Janeiro. This will most likely guarantee a high level of adrenaline as well as a great show for the audience. The venue for this event is Parque dos Patins – Av. Borges de Medeiros, Lagoa.

In the following we will be presenting the ICIL 2010 which stands for International Conference On Industrial Logistics “Logistics and Sustainability” which is organized by Creactive Ação e Evento and will be held between 08-13 of this month. The event is being promoted by Instituto Militar de Engenharia. The conference’s theme is “Logistics & Sustainability” and will feature a highly complex multidisciplinary program which will include original research results plus contributions to this field of sustainable logistics. The venue for the ICIL 2010 will be Instituto Militar de Engenharia – IME – Praça General Tibúrcio, 80 – Praia Vermelha.

Our last reviewed event is the International Women’s Day which will take place on the 8th of March. Numerous events spread through the entire city will take place in order to celebrate the feminism which aims for equal economical and political rights.

Those proud Parisians may claim that Paris is the most romantic city in the world and the Italians may long have insisted on being the world’s greatest lovers, offering up the undeniably charming Venice as a contender for the very same title. Nevertheless, it’s time to acknowledge that both of these cities have a new challenger to deal with: nicknamed the ‘marvellous city’, blessed with stunning natural scenery and an even more breathtaking sunset view for each day of your honeymoon, Rio de Janeiro is today the new ascendant to the throne.

Recent years have seen a surge in luxury tourism in this city; no one can have failed to notice the opening of ‘Fasano’ in 2007, today the celebrities’ choice over and above the once legendary ‘Copacabana Palace’. However, if you want to do more than scratch the surface of this city then contact locally based luxury travel specialists ‘Dehouche‘ who can help you make a reservation at one of a selection of boutique hotels dotted around the city, that may be a little more off the beaten track.

Dehouche began a love affair with Rio many years ago and few visitors to the city escape being seduced by the charms of this captivating place; with year round summer weather, little need to ever wear more than a pair of ‘Havaianas’ and a t-shirt (ok maybe a pair of shorts or some swimwear too) Rio is a city where you can forget city woes. No wonder those residents of São Paulo are so jealous.

Marvel at the panoramic views from Corcovado; sigh as you watch the sunset from Pão de Açúcar whilst you enjoy another intoxicating, yet incredibly moreish, ‘Caipirinha’; stroll along the famous beachside walkway with it’s unmistakeable curvaceous black and white design, seemingly mirroring the shape of the mountains above and settle down on Arpoador rock to enjoy yet another unsurpassable sunset over the ‘Dois Irmãos’. Rio is a city to both fall in love with and fall in love in, again and again and again. Reservations and inhibitions can be left at home; public displays of affection here are as common as days of endless blue skies. Ask Dehouche to organise your tailor made honeymoon in Brazil and make a stop in what is today, the world’s most romantic city.

Let Dehouche arrange your luxury boutique hotel and enjoy a whole host of insider tips on where to truly escape from it all on your honeymoon.

Brazil is a very large and diverse country which makes planning where to go more difficult, here we’ll look at some of the best places to visit in Brazil.

Probably the most famous city in Brazil is Rio de Janeiro, meaning the River of January in English. Rio was the capital of Brazil from 1763 – 1960 and is now the most visited city in Brazil. When visiting Rio there are some must see places to go, firstly the beaches, with Copacabana and Ipanema being the most famous. Another must see place is Christ the Redeemer “Christo Redentor” which is a statue of Jesus on top of a mountain which can be seen from practically the whole city, finally the other must see place in Rio is Sugar Loaf mountain “Pao de Acucar”. Sugar Loaf is a peak in a mountain where it’s possible to look over the whole city, with cable cars taking you to the summit. Rio has the most famous carnival in Brazil and great history when it comes to music having been the place where Samba and Bossa Nova was invented.

The largest city in the Brazil is Sao Paulo, with over 10 million in habitants. Sao Paulo is known as the most cosmopolitan city in Brazil; it has a large number of ethnic minority communities which has lead to it being seen as having the best range and quality of restaurants in Brazil. As well as being known for its food, it’s also well known for its museums such as the Museu Paulista do Ipiranga, the gothic Metropolitan Se Cathedral and the Sao Paulo Museum of Art. Sao Paulo also has the most successful Brazilian football team in Sao Paulo FC, holding the most national and international titles of any Brazilian club.

Finally another amazing city to visit in Brazil is Salvador, which is one of the most beautiful cities in the world; it’s located in the North East of Brazil and is the capital of the state of Bahia. It is known as being the most easygoing city in the Brazil and is famous for street parties and the carnival. Over 80% of the population in Salvador has Black African ancestry which has an effect of the food and music in Salvador. Salvador is the city to visit if you are looking for beautiful beaches and none stop partying.

Whichever city it is that you visit in Brazil you need to make sure you have a pair of Brazil Havaianas, a bikini and that you are looking to have a party.

Holidays to Brazil can include anything from exploring jungles, lying on sunny beaches or admiring great works of religious architecture. This dynamic country is one of the most unique and beautiful in the world and offers a diverse range of intriguing holidays.

The Amazon Rainforest

Holidays to Brazil offer the opportunity to explore the world famous Amazon Rainforest. This vast jungle hosts the largest water system on the planet and you can enjoy exploring the forest by boat on Brazil tours in this region. Hosting 60% of the total rainforest, Brazil is certainly the country of choice for discovering the mystical jungle.

The Amazon Rainforest dates back 55 millions years and today it hosts about 2.5 million species of insect, 2,000 bird and mammal species and tens of thousands of plant types. Such a diverse and rich region begs to be explored, and many Brazil tours include several days or more in the area. Manuas is considered by many to be the gateway to the rainforest, and you can stay in excellent jungle lodges once inside the forest walls – an experience you will remember forever.

Beautiful Beaches on the North Coast

Holidays to Brazil very often conjure images of white sandy beaches, sparkling blue waters and bright sunshine. Brazil certainly lives up to its beach destination reputation, hosting some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. And the north coast is just the place for a beach holiday, with this coastline boasting some of Brazil’s best beaches.

If you want a quiet, small, fishing-town atmosphere, Recife is just the place for your Brazil holiday, home to the quaint fishing town of Porto de Galinhas. This is a beach holiday haven, where you can enjoy the beautiful natural pools and crystal clear waters.

For a livelier beach holiday to Brazil, you can try Pipa, situated in the northern region of the country. Fine white sands, clear waters and dramatic cliffs await you in this idyllic beach destination. Here you can enjoy delicious sundowners at buzzing beach bars, and experience Brazil’s vibrant night life.

The Statue of Christ the Redeemer, Rio

Many Brazil tours will take you to see Rio’s very own statue, now one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. This impressive statue of Jesus Christ stands 38m tall and 30m wide. It is positioned at the peak of Corcovado (700m) in the Tijuica Forest National Park, guarding over the city which it overlooks.

A story which the locals like to tell about the statue is when it got struck by lightning. On February 10 2008, Rio suffered a violent electrical storm. The statue itself was struck by lightning, but amazingly remained unscathed. While some see this as a religious sign, critics and scientists attribute the statue’s ability to withstand the lightning to its make-up of soapstone, which acted as an insulator during the storm. Whatever you believe, the statue is impressive to behold and is worth visiting whilst on holiday to Brazil.

Brazil is a sprawling and varied country. With an area of just over 3 million square miles, Brazil occupies nearly half of the South American continent. Brazil tours allow you to see more of what the country has to offer by taking you to see several of its sights and landmarks during your holidays in Brazil.

Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro is the first city that springs to mind when you think of Brazil. A city of carnival and sunshine, Rio is an essential first stop on Brazil holidays for getting a sense of Brazilian city life. Overlooking the city is Rio’s foremost landmark, the iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer, with his arms stretched wide in a benevolent welcoming gesture. A day trip up Corcovado Mountain, at 700 metres, will allow you to see the city from the statue’s vantage point. The statue itself is thirty eight metres tall and not only offers Rio’s citizens its obvious Christian symbolism but is also is a figure of inspiration for all.

On the way up to Corcovado’s peak, your Brazil tour will take you through the Tijuca Forest, a National Park that is home to many threatened species of South American flora and fauna. What is unusual about the forest is that it was replanted by hand in the 1800’s to repair the damage done by clearances for coffee plantations.

Another remarkable mountain in Rio is Sugarloaf Mountain, so named because of its unusual conical shape. There is a cable car to take you to the top where you’ll be able to take some stunning photos on your Brazil holidays.

Rio overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and you can enjoy the water at the famous Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. You might also want to see the Sambadrome, an immense and impressive stadium designed specifically to host the colourful parades of lavishly costumed dancers during carnival time.

As well as Rio’s markets, botanical gardens and historical streets, there’s also the saltwater lake called Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas. However, the next stop on many Brazil tours will take you to see a watery landmark on a different scale.

Iguacu Falls

Almost a thousand miles to the west of Rio, beyond Sao Paulo, are the Iguacu Falls on the border with Paraguay and Argentina. The falls stretch beyond Brazil across Argentina’s north east border and you have the opportunity to explore the falls from both the Brazilian and the Argentine sides of the border on most Brazil tours. This location also provides the opportunity to stand on the point where the three countries meet.

The falls are comprised of a series of 275 smaller falls cascading over a stretch of almost two miles. This is a beautiful spot to see during your Brazil holidays, with established viewpoints and walkways for exploring the canyon cut by the water of the Iguacu River. In the forests of the National Park around the falls, a protected UNESCO world heritage site, there are a hundred and sixty species of birds to be found. There are also boat tours of the falls, and white water rafting for the brave.

Buzios

After Iguacu Falls, and depending on your interests, many Brazil tours will return to Rio, from where you will travel a further few hours to the pretty coastal resort of Buzios. This has been voted one of the most beautiful areas in the world. With its stylish boutiques and restaurants, and scores of stunning beaches, you can conclude your Brazil holidays by enjoying the country’s famous beach culture, sunning yourself on its golden sands.

Rio Carnival is said to be the biggest party in the world, so why not arrange yourself a Brazil vacation package and attend the party of your life in February 2010?

The carnival at Rio de Janeiro only lasts four days so if you plan on staying in the country longer then you may want to arrange a Brazil holiday around these dates. With the 2010 event scheduled to begin on February 13th, the date for the carnival is typically 40 days before Easter at the start of Lent. This is also the hottest month in Brazil, with the Rio summer at its best.

Every year, the event attracts over 500,000 people on their Brazil holidays with a strong emphasis on samba dancing and generally having a good time.

The carnival ceremonies traditionally begin on the evening before the parade, when the Carnival King, or Momo, is crowned by the Mayor and receives the keys to the city. The Carnival King is always a tall, but rotund, man, matching the stature and physical shape of the original Momo. However, the Carnival Queen must always be in tip-top condition; the 2009 Queen was Jessica Maia De Freitas, a former Playboy model. In a ceremony, not that dissimilar to an American beauty pageant, the Carnival Royal Family are elected before a jury and once crowned they are then able to open the carnival the following morning. However, before this all takes place, the children’s samba schools take part in a mini carnival, which starts at 7pm on the evening before the main event. This carnival is worth attending on your Brazil holiday as it provides a taster of what to expect the following morning.

With the carnival officially open much partying and mayhem ensues and you’re sure to have an incredible time on your Brazil holiday watching the big bands that traditionally open the event. One thing you will discover whilst on your Brazil tours is that the samba school floats are essentially the highlight of the carnival. Each school is made to pick a social or historical theme which is portrayed in both their floats and costumes. Topics have, in the past, included issues as diverse as the arrival of the Portuguese royal family, and the even more bizarre one hundred years of Japanese immigration.

Although the samba parade is definitely the highlight of the first day, the second day is based more around the carnival balls. It’s definitely worth purchasing tickets for one of these events before leaving for your Brazil holiday as they tend to sell out fast. Tickets for the 2010 balls are already on sale and highlights include the Red and Black Ball, dedicated to the famous Rio football team, or the Gay Costume Ball which is the most well-known ball in the city. The club attracts clientele of all sexual orientations, but a grand entrance is definitely a must whilst on your Brazil holidays. Drag Queens are de rigueur at the event and the ball is broadcast out on television to the whole country.

To get a real taste of the country whilst on your Brazil tours try and attend one of the smaller local street parties which take place around the city. The Cinelandia Square is home to both the largest and best organised of these events and even has its own acclaimed orchestras and singers. Lasting a total of five days this street party is the perfect place to experience the country’s culture and atmosphere whilst on your Brazil holiday.

What are the Top ten reasons that you can think of to visit Brazil? Brazil is a country full of immense natural beauty. Exotic beaches and lush rain forests are a few of the wonderful attractions that await visitors and expats alike. Brazil is home to a wide variety of ethnic and biological diversity, Whose heritage is expressed within vibrantly colored art and huge celebrations. Historical cities of pre-Columbian through the Spanish landings await those who love to follow history. Here is a top ten list that includes some of these locations and sites that await you.

1. Brazilian Beaches

First on our list of top ten places to visit in Brazil is Nakaau, because along the coastal side of Brazil there are over fifteen hundred beaches to choose from. More than 500 islands dot the waters off the coast and preserve an undaunted natural beauty not seen anywhere else in the world. Most of the off shore island are protected natural habitats for many species of plants and animals. A great place to visit after a morning nap on the beach for a ecological adventure.

2. Amazing Landscapes & Ecosystems

There are several famous attractions in Brazil that are a must see relating to the ecological and biological diversity of the country. One of them is the Rio Grande Do sol. It is part of the Amazon rain forest and river. Also in the area is another attraction the great Iguaçu falls. Each of these attractions are worthwhile and with the urgent responses that need to preserve seriously endangered natural treasures, ecotourism and ecological protection travel initiatives are becoming common place. This makes it more possible for more visitors and travelers to enjoy Brazil in a more responsible way and it opens opportunities for local communities.

3. Cities and Towns

While visiting Brazil you will find that most of the population lives in the cities with tremendous urban sprawl. But, there are a lot of in valuable smaller historical towns to visit as well like Outo Preto along with the capitol, Brasilia. Also along the coast you have the famous Rio de Janerio and An Pablo that are defiantly on the wish list of most travelers.

4. Brazilian Culture

Brazilian Culture has been around for hundreds of years and it is made of a population of very divers and unique individuals. Each of these cultures has left a significant imprint on the modern society of Brazil. Each has their own notable expressions such as Bossa vova, capoeira, and the yellow soccer jersey. Each has their own strife in the fight for their culture identity. It is the people here who have truly made Brazil the wonderful place it is today.

5. Celebrations & Events

Of course what type of culture would Brazil have without the famous Canival. It is tremendous nationwide celebration. If it’s it one time a year to pick go between February and March this is a celebration that is not one you want to miss. Of course there is the annual Easter celebrations as well were caravans of people line up with prayers and walk to local mass to celebrate the rise of their lord and savior Jesus Christ.

Some other notable celebrations are listed here as well ….

Semana Santa – the Brazilian Holy Week

Festas Juninas

Festa do Divino

Festa Nacional do Índio

LGBT Pride Parade in São Paulo

St. Vito Festival

6. Brazilian Cuisine

Along with a diverse culture Brazil brings with its wonderful and diverse cooking as well. If your looking for chopped meat cooked in open fire pits or upscale restaurants most major cities will give you both. I always recommend to the adventure traveler to take a look at the local street vendors where you can get authentic meals still made the same way they were by their ancestors.

Brazil is becoming more and more famous for the great chefs it is bringing to the table. There are celebrations that will go along well with this through a lot of Brazils food festivals. Bring a losses belt and a sturdy fork so you can sample as much as possible.

A couple of food festivals that you might enjoy are:

Brasil Sabor, the largest culinary festival in Brazil

Comida di Buteco, the annual Belo Horizonte Bar Food Contest

7. Travel-Friendly Weather

Brazil is also a famous paradise for its unique weather that allows your chances while traveling to have a warm sunny vacation. Not all the time, not everywhere it’s always a wise decision to make sure your plans are in line with the predictions. But a majority of places like the northeastern coastal cities like Fortaleza have sunshine three hundred days out of the year. Of course the farther south the sunny days are great for shorts weather and trips to the beach. But also get chilly so you can light up the fire place and cuddle with your loved one at night.

8. Brazil’s Hotels

The one major industry that has taken great strides in improving is the major hotel chains. They are continuing to invest in a wide arrange of marketing and premium luxuries to help the weary traveler feel extra pampered. There is quite an increase in both up scale and moderate lodging. But be weary and specific c about what you want and you may be able to save a little bit of the green stuff in your wallet.

9. Tourism is a Priority to Brazil

The government of Brazil recently announced that the ministry of tourism will invest heavily in tourism of the privet sector in many cities and villages in the country. This really means better infrastructure, jobs, and improvement of community life for Brazilians all over the country. Making these improvements will no doubt lead Brazil to be in the top 10 destination in the world.

10. Brazil is a Gateway to South America

Finally the number ten reason that Brazil is the place to be..Brazil has awesome neighbors. Make it your hub to some of the greatest attractions in South America. With easy access to many countries you can have a month’s worth of adventure and still not see or do it all. But, enjoy it more and more every time you go.

The Republic of Chile is located in southern America, being one of the most interesting tourist destinations on the Globe. The interest visitors have in Chile starts with the fact that the country offers access both to the Chilean Andes and the Pacific Ocean. In reality, there are numerous tourist hot spots in Chile and we are going to explore the main attractions.

1. Each year, more than 2 million people arrive in Chile wishing to explore the country, discovering breathtaking sceneries, incredible wildlife and rich culture. One of the most fascinating destinations is San Pedro de Atacama, a place where the Inca culture and architecture can be thoroughly admired. The Chilean town is without doubt a popular destination for tourists from all over the world, interested in ceramic pottery crafts, the archeological museum and the ruins of Incas. In San Pedro de Atacama one can also admire the splendid view of the Licancabur volcano and take part in unique activities like sand boarding and gazing at the stars. The tourist is enchanted by the geyser fields, the immense salt surface found in the desert and the lagoons where pink flamingos have their habitat.

2. Perhaps one of the most notable tourist attractions Chile offers is the Easter Island. We have all heard about Easter Island and the famous statues left by an ancient culture, known as Moai. The Rapanui people lived many years ago on the island and there are very few facts known about the statues they’ve left. The island also offers a unique view of extinct volcanoes. Tourists arrive interested to observe the Moai statues, the remains of stone walls and stone houses pertaining to cultures long lost. The Easter Island also has some of the most impressive petroglyphs (carving or drawings on rocks), a genuine tradition for wood carving and a very colorful annual festival, Tapati.

3. Chile is famous for a lot of places, including Putre, the capital of the Parinacota province and the home of an amazing chain of volcanoes. Tourists arrive to Putre to discover the natural beauties and unique wildlife of Lauca National Park, found at 3500 m altitude. The Lake District is a wonderful blend between scenery and luxury. There are turquoise lakes, snow capped volcanoes and thermal spas for tourists to enjoy. Pucon is king when it comes to outdoor adventures, including volcano climbing and rifting. Puerto Varas offers spectacular views of two volcanoes, Osorno and Calbuco.

4, 5, 6 and 7. If you are going to Chile, do not hesitate to visit places like Elqui Valley, the Earth’s magnetic center, the island of Chiloe with its rich culture and mythology, plus the National Park known as Torres del Paine. This is the place where mountains, glaciers and lakes come together to show the most splendid mix of nature. The ice field is one-of-a-kind, the entire landscape being completed by curious vegetation and protected wildlife like the Chilean huemul. It goes without saying that Torres del Paine is a popular hiking destination!
