Translating to English as ‘Green Mountain’, Monte Verde was founded in the fifties by Quakers who wanted to leave behind the constant fear of war in the states. Costa Rica had no standing army, so seemed to be like the wise choice. It is now Costa Rica’s most internationally recognised eco tourism attractions, with the cloud reserve being the road most travelled. Visit here and see a forest that is verdant, and fairly untouched. You may catch a glimpse of the rare animals, but they are with nocturnal or very elusive, so it is a privilege. Take a guided two or three hour hike and listen to all the information imparted to you by the knowledgeable locals. You can visit the butterfly garden, that houses some of the most beautiful species of butterfly in the world, and if you visit before lunch, you will find that the butterflies are most active. It’s a great trip for the kids, with the creatures landing on them and drinking nectar from the nearby saucers. If its more the flora that you are after, then the orchid garden offers four hundred and twenty five species of the flower, set in beautiful gardens. You are given a magnifying glass as you enter, as some of the fascinating species have flowers too small to the naked eye.

Other exciting things to do when you are here is to partake in a little bird watching or hiking, as the natural wonders are beautiful. Try the sky walk that takes you over some suspension bridges to give you a view unrivalled.

If you are planning on making a trip to Monte Verde this summer, make sure you have your Travel Insurance and valid travel documents, and get going!

A vacation in Central America specifically in Costa Rica and finding out the best vacation deals may be one of the foremost things you need to do when you’re finally stressed out with the fast-paced lifestyle of the city.

Costa Rica is definitely one of the best destinations to spend the perfect family vacation. Its rich biodiversity lures over 70,000 thousands of visitors yearly. This country is greatly admired by many despite its tiny size, more than a quarter of its total land area constitutes rainforests, national parks and biological reserves. Its vast diversity of flora and fauna is certainly a site to behold especially for nature lovers.

There are several Costa Rica tour companies that can take you to any of its most popular tourist destinations. There are said to be about 200 known and trusted tour operators recommended by the Tourist Board. While most of these tour companies are situated in San Jose, the country’s largest and capital city, these companies are considered experts in showing just about anyone the famous tourist spots. Some of these companies even put forward a Costa Rica singles tours mainly for tourists who prefer to travel alone to meet new friends or even love interests.

The best Costa Rica tours involve visiting famous national parks and other wilderness locations depending on your interests. The tour comes with planned itineraries, private transportation as well as guides who are bilingual. Some companies even offer nature tours in which you can experience different water adventures including white water rafting, scuba diving, kayaking, fishing and even canopy tours. So it’s best if one can come to a decision on what are the best travel package deals they’d like to take advantage.

Costa Rica Coffee tours or Plantation tours can be included in your list of places to visit since the country is also celebrated for its coffee. Coffee tours may be distinguished from one tour to another, namely the Café Monteverde Coffee Tour or the the Classic Britt Coffee Tour, tourist are still guaranteed to enjoy a cup of the country’s delicious coffee. During these tours, you will gain knowledge on how the coffee production is done. The climate near the upland areas adjoining San Jose and the Tilaran Mountain range is ideal for coffee plantations.

A great tour to Costa Rica and of course a vacation on the beach is perhaps the answer to your hearts desire. You can relax in any of the country’s magnificent beaches and resorts which vary from white, gray and black sands. The beaches located in the Pacific and Caribbean coasts are incomparable and you can decide which of these beaches would suit your wishes. A number of beaches in this country such as the Playa Tamarindo provide easy access to luxurious hotels, restaurants and even all star vacation homes.

You can also spend day trips from San Jose, which is Costa Rica’s capital city and known to be really populated during peak seasons. It was mentioned previously that most tour companies are located in San Jose. Day trips will certainly keep you busy when you can go on a butterfly and orchid tour or visit the Poas Volcano National Park.

Just thinking about the fun things to do in Costa Rica would make anyone want to jump on a plane and have the most memorable vacation of a life time. This tiny country so rich in its natural rainforests including thousands of animal species such as the famous Quetzal, unparalleled beaches and resorts, national parks including its popular volcanoes like the Arenal Volcano and tours such as canopy and coffee tours are the reasons why people keep coming back for more. It’s never surprising that tourists associate Costa Rica as a country tantamount to Paradise.

Going on an overseas travel adventure in Costa Rica is indeed a dream come true especially for tourists who just love the thrill and excitement. Since this country is also known for its beautiful beaches that lay in the Caribbean and Pacific Ocean coasts, most tourist would just love to go surfing on Costa Rica’s magnificent white and black sand beaches. There are thousands of beaches that serve as great surf spots but we can only name a few of our favorites.

During Costa Rica tours its best if you ask around what’s the best option for you in case you’d like to go surfing during your stay. The Tamarindo remains one of the most popular surf spots in Guanacaste since it allows easy access to various surf breaks namely the Ollie’s Point and Witches Rock. Tamarindo also provides the easier access to beachfront hotels or condominiums and a special nightlife treat. Playa Grande is another great option for a surf spot without having to fight off a huge crowd like the ones in Tamarindo. Its waves are considered more consistent and like Tamarindo, it still has access to some local amenities and restaurants.

White water rafting or kayaking is another popular sport that’s filled with pure excitement in which several travel agencies in Costa Rica would just love to take you to the best places to white water raft. This country is rated as one of the best white water rafting spots in the world. Rapids are divided into classes from Class II to V, which will be used to determine which is best for families, novices and experts. One can appreciate a great view of the country’s exotic beauty while zipping down a river. There are several rivers that are great for white water rafting and are considered the best in the world namely Reventazon, Rios Pacuare, Sarapiqui and Corobici.

Costa Rica vacation reviews also noted that the country’s biodiversity including the abundance of its underwater life the reason why it’s fast becoming one of the hottest tourist destinations in the world. Some of the best diving spots include the Drake Bay and Isla del Cano in the Pacific coast where one can get a glimpse of its underwater sights. The Isla del Cano, despite its size is considered the ultimate diving spot, with 18 species of coral, 3 species of dolphin and 57 various species of crustaceans. Since a significant number of tourists visit the country to experience scuba diving at its best that travel agencies are now offering underwater excursions.

The best Costa Rica tours or excursions should include these three water activities in achieving the ideal Costa Rica vacation. One will certainly appreciate the natural beauty of the country’s biodiversity.

When thinking about a tropical getaway or beach excursion, does St. Thomas, Aruba or Florida come to mind? From its pristine white sand beaches to endless water sports and ecotourism activities, Panama offers something for everyone.
Punta Chame, a white sandy beach peninsula ideal for windsurfers and kite surfers, is just 30 minutes from Panama. The area is also becoming a hot tourist and resident destination as the area is growing and dotted with housing projects including condominiums, hotels and Casinos.

Isla Iguana offers the best snorkeling in the country and amazing diving opportunities. The region boasts 35 acres of coral reefs, 13 coral species and over 200 species of fish.

Panama is recognized as one of the fishing destinations in the Americas and Pedasi is one of the top deep sea fishing destinations in the country. The area of Pedasi also offers world-class surfing, diving and snorkeling opportunities. From wrecks and sea mounts to coral reefs, divers can experience the beauty of this rapidly growing area. The Pedasi area is also becoming a sought-after surfing tourist destination. “Costa Pedasi” extends over 2km of beach and includes two breaks – Lagarto point and Playa El Toro. Other top surfing spots include Playa Raya, Playa Venao, Playa Destiladeros and Playa Madrono.

In addition to the surfing, fishing, diving and snorkeling adventures, Costa Pedasi, during the months of July to September, is the perfect location to see Humpback whales migrate from South America to the warmer tropical waters of this region.

Panama offers a superb lifestyle for tourists and residents alike.
Costa Rica’s name means, literally, “rich coast.” The name is appropriate. This beautiful country is rich with amazing wildlife, gorgeous coastlines, and exquisite tropical weather. Cost Rica is a leader in environmental performance and eco-tourism. Its national parks are home to many endangered species, drawing visitors to observe animals in their natural habitat. Costa Rica’s official language is Spanish. Its official currency is the Colon, but many merchants accept the US Dollar. Costa Rica Holidays tours are a popular escape from the winter cold for many travelers who seek a warm and sun-filled getaway.

Visit one of Costa Rica’s butterfly farms for a complete escape from the dreariness of winter weather. Because the weather in Costa Rica is usually very warm, the number of butterfly species is tremendous. Butterflies are a main attraction on Costa Rica tours. In the tiny country of Costa Rica, there are more butterfly variations than in the entire continent of Africa. Many butterfly farms offer travelers the opportunity to spend hours admiring the colourful “flying jewels” in action. It is not necessary to visit a special farm to view butterflies, though. Butterflies are a beautiful part of everyday life in Costa Rica.

Along with butterflies, bird watching is another main attraction of any tour of Costa Rica. Harpy Eagles, an endangered species, have found a home in the nation’s forests. With over 800 different species of birds, Costa Rica’s national parks are resplendent with coloured feathers and chirping songs. The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is a paradise for those who enjoy watching birds. Canopy tours of the rainforest offer a bird’s eye view of the land below. Guides will escort visitors along suspension bridges and pathways in the tops of rainforest trees.

Tour a butterfly farm, watch birds in a rainforest, or take a skywalk in the Monteverde Reserve. Costa Rica offers a rare combination of beauty, pleasant weather, and richness of wildlife. Whether staying in a five star hotel, or backpacking through the countryside, every tourist will find something to enjoy.

Costa Rica is quickly becoming the #1 choice for destination weddings for many creative couples. Whether your dream setting is beach, a mountain top, or hanging from a ZipLine 100 feet above the floor of the rainforest, a destination wedding in Costa Rica will not disappoint.

by: Julieta Laham

Costa Rica is quickly becoming the #1 choice for destination weddings for many creative couples. Whether your dream setting is beach, a mountain top, or hanging from a ZipLine 100 feet above the floor of the rainforest, a destination wedding in Costa Rica will not disappoint.

This tiny Central American country has more variety of environments and desirable settings to offer than almost anyplace on earth. First there is such a wide range of micro climates such as the Rainforest, dry cool Cloudforest or choose from an oceanfront beach ceremony on not just one coast….but your choice of the waves of the vast and mighty Pacific Ocean or the white sand and turquoise waters of the Caribbean.

Yes, it’s true….one paradise, two oceans.

Many couples seek wild eco-adventure, some are looking for a casual atmosphere and warm weather year-round, some for terrific value in an exotic location…Costa Rica offers them all. The most common thread with most of these couples is to preserve some elements of cultural or religious tradition in their ceremony while still enjoying the exotic scenery, celebrating their raw, adventurous sides and creating one-of-a-kind memories for the whole group that weren’t just popped out of a mold in a factory like many typical weddings.

One very vibrant couple made this dream a reality while creatively combining centuries-old East Indian tradition with a spicy Latin twist.

This was no ordinary East Indian wedding.

The setting was Los Sueños Resort and Marina on the Central Pacific Coast of Costa Rica.

This particular couple has a passion for a tropical environment and the sea so they also wanted a beachfront wedding. The question was…how do they achieve it all…all in one amazing place?

They really had an interesting mix of requirements and a travel planner in the U.S. recommended they consider Los Sueños, just a 2 hour drive from the capital city of San Jose (soon to be a 1 hour drive when the new national highway opens in early 2010)

The family knew they had some challenges ahead with such unique requirements and it would take a very special, dedicated team to pull off all the complicated and specialized details.

They visited the Los Suenos resort, met with the CR Luxury Wedding Coordinator, explained their requests and requirements, and decided they’d found exactly what they wanted.

A Pre-wedding visit to experience the destination, the resort or hotel is highly recommended. Some venues even have a program allowing a one or two night complimentary visit, site tour and planning meeting.

Many hotels and resorts also offer a special bridal package which sometimes might include items like a complimentary cake, flower arrangement, banquet room and even a honeymoon suite at no charge for the bride and groom with a certain number of condominiums or hotel rooms booked for friends and family.

Check with the group sales department, reservations department, concierge or wedding planner for each venue you are considering and ask what offers they may extend and how much value you will receive for your dollars spent. Always consult a professional when preparing for a destination wedding either through the services of an independent planner or an “in-house” wedding coordinator.

Someone with expert knowledge of the location and great relationships with local vendors can help provide every detail and pull it off without even the slightest bump in the process. Well, almost any event planner will tell you; “there are bumps in carrying out any event…but a true professional will identify issues and find a creative solution to remedy the situation quickly where everyone in attendance will see only a hugely successful, joyful event”. The most important thing in almost any wedding planning process is to minimize the stress and maximize the pleasure of the entire experience from the first visit and consideration of the location, through the return home from the honeymoon.

The couple was amazed at how a team in Latin America, who never previously had any contact with East Indian culture, stepped right in, were happy to assist with every unusual detail and never were flustered by even a fleeting thought, of not being able to deliver every wish .

This well-traveled bride, grew up in Costa Rica and still has family in the country so she knows first hand all the wonders that Costa Rica and Latin America have to offer. She knew this was the perfect place to bond their relationship and blend the two, vastly different cultures she calls her own.

Once the plans were made they flew from their home in Boston and after a few days in the city it was time to head west toward the Pacific coast to Los Sueños to begin the elaborate 3 day celebration.

The group arrived at Los Suenos Resort, checked in with the CR Luxury Diamond Concierge Team and the family met with their personal “in-house” wedding coordinator who immediately put them at ease ahd had every detail covered. Next stop….AAAAhhhhhhhh!

The bride said” Once everyone arrived and checked into their luxury condominiums, everyone was so relaxed…..I think this set a great mood for the entire trip right away.”

It was November 26th, the day before Thanksgiving family did not want to miss that tradition either. The CR Luxury Concierge ordered a full Thanksgiving Dinner that was delivered to the family at their condominium.

This was another great example of the blending of cultures…An American Celebration, enjoyed by an East Indian family across the street from the rainforest, in Costa Rica! This just goes to show what a warm welcome can be found for all cultures in this little Latin American paradise!

The bride also tells us that the luxury condominiums were “such a great decision”. They all enjoyed a beautiful, spacious home that allowed everyone to be comfortable and gather together several times and enjoy each other’s company as a family and as a group. She also told us that they were impressed at how the units are so well kept. She said that the time shared and closeness would not have been possible if they were all staying in a luxury hotel.

Arrangements were made for the first ceremonial events…the ladies participated in a ritual called Mehndi and they flew in a special Henna artist from Toronto for the event while the family men gathered for drinks at sunset and enjoyed a memorable time.

The next event called Sangeet, began almost immediately afterward…poolside at the private, Los Sueños Beach Club.

Just another example of blending of the scenery of this Latin American paradise and rich East Indian culture.

The Sangeet event began with drinks and appetizers, being served.

While the guests were sipping and dining, there were dance and musical performances, the Newlywed Game and an open mic for speeches from friends.

Then came the wedding day and it was spectacular right from the start!

In a more typical setting the family and guests of the groom would proceed together fully costumed and decorated to the home of the bride for the wedding ceremony. For this creative couple, there was an exciting twist!

With the groom’s dressed in formal East Indian wedding attire, he mounts a horse and the group of family and guests begin the colorful procession, called Baraat winding through the Los Sueños resort toward the Beach Club for Milni where the bride’s family greets the groom’s for the ritual exchange of garlands.

The wedding couple were married on a stage with floral alter specially designed and built right here in Costa Rica of wood with a steel bowl for a special fire just for this particular ceremony.

A tented beachfront reception, decorated in linens and ribbon of white, gold and green followed the ceremony. Drinks and appetizers were served as well as a fantastic, authentic dinner catered by the family’s favorite restaurant East Indian restaurant from San Jose.

This lovely bride commented that every task and request, no matter how unique, strange or unconventional, from a horse for the groom’s procession to a specially built stage and alter was possible due to the “can do” attitude of the CR Luxury Diamond Concierge team.

The beach, rainforest covered mountains, outdoor venues, spacious luxury accommodations and the oceanfront views allowed this modern, young couple to create a very personalized, unique series of events which blended their rich East Indianheritage with their love for the beach and the tropics for a spicy Latin twist!

This was an example of just one couple’s unique creative dream wedding.

Never let your wedding dreams have limits…reach for the sky…right here in Costa Rica!

Panama has a fortunate geographical location that has allowed this well placed little country to nurture into an ever more important and significant intersection of the world. Manufactured goods, supplies and needs from all over the world and a whole lot more are located and are a lot cheaper in Panama than in any other parts of the globe simply because of the country’s function as an international port.

Panama is known as a shopper’s paradise. With a number of immense and fine shops and malls, store souvenirs, equipments and home appliances, it is really an experience. Almost everything can be easily found and bought here. From electronic equipments like watches, cameras, designer clothes, shoes, perfumes, accessories, jewelries, cars, kitchenware, handicrafts to electrical equipments and souvenirs. From native costumes to relics, you just name it and Panama has it and with tax free shops for tourists.

Shopping hours varies from shop to shop but most stores opens from 9am to 6pm and even up to 10pm from Mondays to Sundays. In recent years, as the towns have grown, big shopping malls and commercial centers have been developed and the choice of a place to shop can be puzzling. Try roaming around the endless shopping malls and shops and you would really say shopping in the country is one of the most wonderful experiences you will ever have. The city offers something for everyone from their world-famous beach shops and local designers to malls. Some of the shopping centers include The Multicentro mall, Multiplaza Pacific mall, Albrook mall, Los Pueblos and Flamenco shopping plaza.

You can live as economically or extravagantly as you would like in this country. Everything will depend on you on what you are willing and eager to live and live without. The most excellent part of shopping in Panama is the ease of financial and economic transactions. It has more shopping opportunities that you can use a credit card at. Credit cards and visa cards are accepted and can be used to pay in all places which include American Express, Master Card and Diners Club. The stores also accept payments in U.S. dollars.

Shopping has drawn the greatest interest of the tourists in Panama. No trip to this paradise is complete without a trip to a shopping mall, a stop by an outlet or a stroll through one of its attractive trade districts.Shopping is definitely incredible that can be taken pleasure in during a Panama vacation. Whether you are looking to pick up some fresh vegetables at a local market, or are interested in storing up on free items, shopping in Panama can fill up more than its fair share of hours. Panama shopping is well-designed by the handicraft items that some of the country’s native populations are known for.

In Panama, shopping never die downs ones pleasure and amusement. This is an experience you should never miss whenever you get the chance to visit or stay in the country in spite of whether the trip is for business or leisure of fun purposes.

Nosara, Costa Rica has long been considered a top surfing destination among surfing enthusiasts. The beaches are extremely clean and almost never crowded which adds to the ideal surfing climate, along with the great waves, of course. In fact, the breaks here; from point breaks to lefts, rights and peaks are unparalleled in all the world. It is really a kind of surfer’s paradise in the middle of paradise, itself. The relaxed lifestyle, stable economy and low cost of living are enticing many people to make Nosara, Costa Rica their home.

Where to Surf?

Playa Guiones is probably the ideal surfing destination in Nosara, Costa Rica. You may get even better waves at Playa Ostional, but the sharp rock formations, heavy shark population due to the large numbers of turtles that nest there and blistering hot black sand beaches make it less than hospitable for surfers. Guiones is ideal with its pink sandy beaches and multiple peaks both left and right and ideal beach breaks. Travelling to the hottest surfing locations in Nosara is no easy feat since there are very few paved roads, but according to surfing aficionados, it is well worth it even if you have to walk a certain distance to get there.

When to Surf?

Nosara, Costa Rica has an exceptionally long surf season from October to May with the most ideal surfing happening between December and April each year. This allows for a great deal of flexibility if you are looking to plan the ideal surfing vacation. The best time of day to surf in Nosara, Costa Rica is just like in California-in the morning. If you are serious about your surfing, you will want to forego overdoing the wild nightlife and get to bed at a decent hour so you can get up early enough to catch the early morning waves at Guiones.

Planning a Trip to Nosara

You will need to check with the airlines about getting to Costa Rica. Be sure to check with the airlines regarding their policies for carrying your board. From there you will have to rent a car to drive to Nosara. Keep in mind that few roads are paved and it will be a rough ride. Make sure you bring your own soft racks and straps because rental cars in Costa Rica aren’t usually equipped with them. Surfing in Nosara, Costa Rica is the trip of a lifetime for anyone who is serious about surfing.

When planning a trip hiking in Costa Rica, smouldering volcanoes and wild rainforests are often some of the first images that spring to mind. The whole country is a natural paradise, with many fantastic sights to behold. Here a just a few of the highlights:

Cahuita

Cahuita is one of the few places in the world where you can combine a trek through a verdant jungle with an afternoon sunbathing on a perfect white sand beach. The region also contains a national park, which is among one of the most visited in the whole country. This park was formed in 1970 to protect Costa Rica’s largest coral reef and is a popular place to try your hand at scuba, snorkelling and deep-sea diving. The park even contains an 18th century shipwreck, which is fascinating to explore.

The crystal clear waters make the area ideal for swimming and spotting different species of marine life from sea urchins to angel and parrot fish. You may also be lucky enough to spot a Carey Turtle or lucky (or unlucky) enough to spot one of the three species of sharks that frequent the area. The animal species found in the jungle include sloth, possums and monkeys, with birdlife including kingfishers, heron and ibises amongst others.

Arenal

If you plan on hiking in Costa Rica, a visit to Arenal National Park is an absolute must to experience the breathtaking beauty of Central America’s natural landscape. The park is home to the spectacular Arenal Volcano, one of the top ten most active in the world. This colossal landmark, set in the depth of a lush tropical rainforest, will leave you in a sense of awe as you bear witness to its perpetual stream of rising smoke and the flow of the crimson lava creeping from the precipice. Listen carefully and you will even hear the deep earth-shaking rumblings of this prehistoric titan. Many hotels tout their views of the volcano, and if you can spare the time while hiking in Costa Rica then an overnight stay is highly recommended. As night falls, the scene becomes ever more dramatic, with the luminescent lava flow creating a spectacular image against the dark skies.

While you cannot scale the volcano itself, there are many tours offering you the chance to hike around the base and view this spectacular landmark from every perspective. After a day of hiking in Costa Rica there is nothing better than unwinding at the famous Tabacon thermal resort. Set in acres of primary rainforest, the resort offers weary hikers the chance to revitalise in a series of lagoons, each enjoying a constant supply of natural and steamy-hot volcanic water. While there, don’t miss out on the waterfall back massage, the Ayurvedic spa treatments or the 5-star restaurant. If action is more your kind of thing, why not try your hand at white-water rafting, horseback riding, caving or even the exhilarating canopy zip-lines. With so many activities in an around the Arenal area, you should be sure to make this a priority stop while hiking in Costa Rica.
