Only few places in the United States can be considered both winter and summer destination for couples, partners and lovers. Vermont is one of the states that offer both an unforgettable summer vacation, as well as a scenic and full-of-adventure winter escape. Whether you and your partner is planning for a quick occasional relaxation or a long getaway vacation, you will surely find this state in the New England region a perfect place to unwind, relax and enjoy.

Winter Romantic Escape

The winter season is an ideal time for cuddling and nuzzling in front of crackling fire. Thus, you won’t be able to resist the charm of a country inn in Vermont with cozy accommodations and furnishing situated in strategic places surrounded by nature or serene village. Aside from staying in romance-inducing inns, resorts and bed and breakfast lodges, you and your partner also have a lot of things to do in Vermont during the winter season. Below are some of the famous winter activities in this New England getaway vacation destination:

Skiing

Vermont is one of the ski capitals in the US, if not the world, with over 4,500 acres of land available for skiing. Since there are many ski and mountain resorts all over the place, transportation to ski spots is never a problem, especially with 150 lifts and about 900 trails all over. Whether you and your loved one are just learning how to ski or are expert ski aficionados, you will surely encounter a slope that is ideal for your level and competency.

Snowboarding and snowmobiling

Couples can visit different places and follow different trails using snowboards and snowmobiles that are available in most ski resorts. With snowmobiling and snowboarding, you can discover private nooks and crannies where you can enjoy the view and bask in the winter sun.

Ice fishing

Although Lake Champlain is the most popular spot for ice fishing, there are quite a number of inland lakes in the area that you can choose from. If you want private ice fishing for you and your partner, ask your hotel staff to help you find a perfect spot that only the two of you can enjoy. Trout, salmon and other freshwater fishes are the usual fishes that you can catch in the lakes in Vermont, especially during late December to early March.

Snowshoeing and sleigh riding

What can be more romantic than holding hands while snowshoeing in the Green Mountains of New England? Snowshoeing, which has been the trend in Vermont for over a century, provides lovers time to discover the winter paradise at their own pace.

If snowshoeing is a bit adventurous for you, you can just probably enjoy a one-hour wagon and sleigh ride at night, after dinner, around the villages of Vermont.

Cool Spring/Summer Romantic Escapade

Many ski resorts in Vermont are also ideal vacation spots during the summer. Since most are situated atop high mountains and hills, staying at ski resorts even during the warm season will provide you a breathtaking view of dense trees and all the wonders of nature. Stargazing and cuddling in camping sites are also some of the romantic activities that lovers and couples do here in Vermont.

Read on if want to learn more about the summer romantic recreation activities in this side of the country.

Cruising at Lake Champlain

Enjoy a night of dancing and dining aboard small luxury cruise ship while enjoying marvelous sunset and the view of the shorelines surrounding Lake Champlain.

Fishing, boating and other water-related sports

Fly-fishing, kayaking, canoeing, white-water rafting, sailing, swimming and boating are just some of the water-related activities you and your beloved can participate in. While enjoying the waters of Vermont, you can also take pleasure in bird watching, scuba diving, and other nature-admiring activities.

Camping

Of the fifty-two state parks in Vermont, about thirty-nine provide camping grounds and amenities. You can even ask the local US Forest Service which camping grounds are couple-friendly. Be sure to try out at least one of the nine campgrounds located in the Green Mountain National Forest, which boasts of the finest views of this New England state’s famous woodlands.

If you do not like to visit state parks, you can also enjoy camping in several private campgrounds in the area for your much-needed reclusion.

Golfing

If you and your partner are golf aficionados, you will never go wrong in trying out the golf resorts and clubs in Vermont because some of them were designed by famous golf champions Robert Trent Jones and Jack Nicklaus.
